Commander Edward C. Ramirez is a 32-year veteran of the Los Angeles County
Sheriff’s Department and currently serves as the Commander of North Patrol Division
which includes West Hollywood, Santa Clarita, Malibu/Lost Hills, Palmdale, and
Lancaster Stations.

Commander Ramirez’s career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department began
in 1990. After graduating from the Sheriff’s Training Academy as a Deputy Sheriff, he
was assigned to the Men’s Central Jail.

Ramirez worked patrol at Temple, Crescenta Valley, and Altadena stations before
transferring to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau as a public information officer and later
to the Office of the Sheriff as part of the Sheriff’s security detail. As a Sergeant,
Ramirez served at Century Station and as a Chief’s Aide at the Correctional Services
Division before promoting to Lieutenant at the Community Transition Unit. He also
served as the Operations Lieutenant at several other bureaus before transferring to
West Hollywood station in 2015 where he served as Watch Commander and Service
Area Lieutenant. In 2019, Ramirez was promoted to Captain of West Hollywood Station
under Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva’s new captain selection process,
which involved a panel of city and county leadership as well as various community
stakeholders.

During his career, Ramirez has assisted in the creation and implementation of two
bureaus; the Education Based Incarceration Bureau and the Population Management
Bureau, as well as the conception and operation of the Community Re-entry and
Resource Center at the Inmate Reception Center.

Commander Ramirez earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the
University of Oklahoma, and has also been actively involved in the communities in
which he’s lived and served, including being a Board member for the Boys and Girls
Club of Pasadena, Shelter Partnership, a homeless support organization, and as current President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association (HAPCOA).

Ramirez has been married to his wife, Roseann, for 35 years, and they have three adult
children as well as four grandchildren. In his off hours, he enjoys spending quality time
with his family, traveling, exercising, and watching his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers.
