Alma Burke is a highly accomplished professional in law enforcement. She currently serves as the President and CEO of Burke Consulting Group LLC and has previously held the position of Assistant Chief of Operations and Director of the Bureau of Investigations and Crime Analysis at USC DPS in Los Angeles.

With over 27 years of experience, Alma has excelled in various roles within law enforcement. She started her career with the Los Angeles Police Department, gaining expertise in patrol operations, undercover investigations, Vice and human trafficking cases, sexual assault and homicide investigations, use of force and critical incident inquiries, public housing/community safety, and police academy training.

During her time at the police academy, Alma and her team provided comprehensive training to over 9,000 law enforcement officers on important topics such as tactics, de-escalation, mental health response, and the use of non-lethal weapons. She remains highly knowledgeable in areas such as use of force, tactics, and active shooter response.

In addition to her law enforcement experience, Alma has held leadership positions in professional organizations. She was the President of the Los Angeles Women Police Officers Organization and currently serves as the Vice President of the Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association. Alma is actively involved in programs and advocacy as the co-chair of California Women of Homeland Security. She also contributes as a public safety advisor for the Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club and is a distinguished member and speaker of the National Association of Women in Law Enforcement Executives.

Alma’s dedication extends beyond her professional pursuits as she mentors students at USC, particularly as a first-generation Latinx college student. She holds a master’s degree in executive leadership and management studies from USC and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Education Organizational Change Leadership at the USC Rossier School of Education.
